A virtual honeypot is a simulated network used to lure intruders
to study their attack patterns. The simulated networks are replicas of real networks and are used exclusively to analyze vulnerabilities through which attackers
attack networks. Thevirtual honeypots can be implemented in a wide variety of network configurations on virtual machines
and replicate various vulnerabilities. Since the attacker behavior to the virtual honeypots does not differ in any way from real honeypots, security experts can gain insights from the attack patterns for improving the security of real networks.
