Ethernet virtual connection (E-Tree, MEF) (EVC)

Ethernet Virtual Connections (EVC) are virtual connections defined by the Metro Ethernet Forum ( MEF) over Metro Ethernet Networks( MEN). They can be point-to-point connections, point-to-multipoint connections or multipoint-to-multipoint connections and are terminated on the customer and provider side by User Network Interfaces( UNI).

The UNI interfaces form the handover points between the provider and subscriber devices.

Each individual virtual Ethernet connection can be configured with attributes, such as bandwidth profiles, different classes of service( CoS), application-specific performance specifications, forwarding rules, or traffic flow management rules. Bandwidth profiles include Committed Information Rate( CIR), Excess Information Rate( EIR), Committed Burst Size( CBS) and Excess Burst Size (EBS).
