video electronics standards association (VESA)

Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) is an organization composed of leading manufacturers of hardware and software in the field of graphic display. The more than 300 members of this organization include monitor and graphics card manufacturers, who are concerned with uniform guidelines and with the compatibility of graphic computer components.

In addition, VESA has developed the VESA Local Bus( VLB) as well as its own graphics standards, which have been implemented in graphics cards, such as the VESA format, from which SVGA format (Super VGA) has developed, or the Home Network Committee Specifications, in which the transmission standards for audio, video and PC-based applications are defined, the Display Power Management System( DPMS), with which the power consumption of monitors is reduced by switching to the economy mode, or the DisplayPort, with which even high- resolution large displays can be controlled.
