At the beginning of the 1970s, the first video devices for private use were developed, in which the video tape was in a closed video cassette.

These systems, which evolved into VCRs, were called Video Cassette Recorders(VCR). Some of the better known Video Cassette Recorders include the VHS system, Video Home System (VHS), by JVC, Video 2000 by Grundig, Beta by Sony, VCR by Philips, and Video-8 by Sony.

Some of the above-mentioned video cassette recorders have not gained market importance and have been withdrawn from the market after a few years. In other processes, analog recording methods have been replaced by digital ones, such as Digital VHS, D-VHS.
