vicinity integrated circuit card (contactless chipcard) (VICC)
Vicinity Integrated Circuit Cards (VICC) is a generic term for contactless smart cards that are used in the immediate vicinity (vicinity) of an RFID reader.
They are covered in ISO 15693, but do not have the meaning of Proximity Integrated Circuit Card( PICC), which are used in close proximity (vicinity) of an RFID reader. The VICC card is the size of the ID1 card and can span a distance range of 1 m. As with the PICC card, communication and energy transfer between the Vicinity Coupling Device( VCD), which is the card reader/writer, and the VICC card is inductive.
ISO 15693 consists of three parts and describes VICC cards using memories with simple state machines.
Part 1: Physical Characteristics,
Part 2: Air Interface and Initialization and
Part 3: Anti-Collision and Transmission Protocol.
