user interface markup language (XML) (UIML)

The User Interface Markup Language (UIML) is a description language for the creation of web pages, based on XML.

The created web page is not bound to the size and resolution of the display on which the web page is to be shown. It can be a large display, the display of a desktop, a tablet PC or a small display of a smartphone.

The UIML description language is open source software. It can be used to create text that is then extended with graphical elements and function fields for operation, buttons and menus. With the description language UIML user inputs and resulting actions can be described.
