urgent pointer

Urgent Pointer is a 16 bit long data field in the TCP header. The Urgent flag is used to signal that there is urgent data in the TCP header.

The Urgent Pointer to the end of the data marked as urgent. The value of the pointer is a positive offset of the sequence number. Urgent data is always transmitted as the first information in the TCP header.
