upgrade

Upgrading, upgrade, is the quantitative or qualitative extension of an existing installation, device, network, system or software.

The upgrade can, for example, be the connection of additional peripheral devices or conversion measures that make an existing system faster or more powerful, for example. It may involve upgrading one version to a faster one, as in the case of Ethernet.

If it is a matter of upgrading computers, servers or network components, we speak of scale-up.
