ultra-high reliability and low latency communication (5G) (uRLLC)

For 5th GenerationNew Radio(5GNR) mobile communications, the ITU has defined three service categories: Enhanced Mobile Broadband( eMBB), Ultra-High Reliability and Low Latency Communication (uRLLC), and Massive Machine-Type Communication( mMTC).

Ultra-Reliable and Low-Latency Communication (uRLLC) establishes high- reliability, low- latency links between the transmitter and receiver. The high reliability (Ultra Reliable) and low latency (Low Latency) are the prerequisites for extremely time-critical applications. The latency times are around 1 ms to 2 ms.

URLLC services can be used for services in which the shortest response times are important and which must not fail. For example, autonomous driving, in which automatic driver assistance systems control motor vehicles automatically. Other areas include robot-assisted process automation, the Industrial Internet of Things( IIoT), augmented reality( AR), and predictive maintenance( PdM) of systems, where maintenance is based on noise analyses that can be used to draw conclusions about vibrations, wear, or imbalances.

In5G Release 16, Enhanced Ultra-High Reliability and Low Latency Communication (euRLLC) is a uRLLC technology with ultra-short latency. This technology can replace wired Ethernet.
