ultra lightweight encapsulation (IP) (ULE)

Ultra Light Encapsulation (ULE) is a further development of Multiprotocol Encapsulation(MPE).

Ultra Light Encapsulation was developed by an IEFT working group that reduced the quite 12- byte header of the MPE protocol by four bytes. The ULE header consists only of the two-byte data field for the packet length and the type field, which is also two bytes long. This header is followed by the four-byte IPv4 datagram data field and the two-byte cyclic block check(CRC) data field.
