All channels have a bit depth of up to 8 bits, including the one for transparency. TGA files can have a resolution of 8, 16, 24 and 32 bits/pixel and are mainly used in professional computer graphics and image processing.
The file extension of TGA files have the suffixes *.tga and *.tpic.
