transparent semiconductor
Transparent semiconductors consist of transparent electronic components.
Since classical semiconductor materials such as silicon and germanium are opaque, transparent conducting oxides(TCOs) have emerged in the research for transparent conducting materials. These include zinc oxide( ZnO), tin oxide (SnO2) and indium tin oxide( ITO).
Transparent semiconductors are used in displays, thin-film solar cells, computers, touch screens and in digital cameras. Other potential applications include paper-like displays for e-book readers with e-paper, as head-up displays that can be glued to windshields or as thin-film solar cells on house windows.
