transparent mode

Transparent mode is typically understood to mean code-independent, binary- synchronous data transmission in which the recognition of control characters is suppressed.

Bit combinations that are transported as control characters in the transmission stream are only recognized and interpreted by the receiving system. Transparent mode characterizes the operation of a digital transmission facility while the user can use the full available bandwidth and does not notice anything about processes running in the meantime.
