transmission opportunity (WLAN) (TXOP)

InWLANs according to 802.11, the transmission opportunity (TXOP) corresponds to the transmission right. The TXOP is used to describe the transmission interval, the start time and the transmission duration.

In this time slot, the access point( AP) can transmit more than one frame, which increases the data throughput in the access point.

If the stations have secured the TXOP transmission right during a competitive phase, Enhanced Distributed Channel Access( EDCA), it is referred to as EDCA-TXOP. If the TXOP was allocated via the Hybrid Coordination Function( HCF), then it is an HCCA-TXOP(HCF Controlled Channel Access).
