transmission code

A transmission code is a set of rules, an encoding, which determines the code in which the data is encoded during transmission. Examples are the EBCDIC code, where the data is represented in an 8-bit code, or the IA-5 alphabet (International Alphabet 5), a 7-bit code that uses the ASCII character set.
