traffic measurement

Traffic engineeringtasks in transmission networks include measuring traffic intensity. Traffic measurements are used to measure the current traffic load and detect changes in communication conditions.

Traffic measurements are part of monitoring networks and nodes and their traffic load. They can be performed in the entire network, but also in subnetworks, backbone networks, local networks and subnetworks. On the one hand, they are used to monitor and maintain given performance standards, and on the other hand, for long-term planning of network expansion.

Traffic intensity is measured in Erlang or in Centum Call Second( CCS), with both parameters being directly related. Accordingly, 1 CCS corresponds to 100 call seconds and 1/36 Erlang.
