# total jitter (TJ)

Jitter is divided into random jitter( RJ), deterministic jitter ( DJ), and absolute jitter(TJ).

The absolute jitter is the sum of different jitters. Since a complete evaluation of the absolute jitter is not possible, the noise and the Gaussian distribution function have been included and the total jitter has been defined as the product of the noise and the sum of random jitter (RJ) and deterministic jitter (DJ).

While the statistical jitter is given as the rms value, the deterministic is given as the peak-to-peak value. Total Jitter often refers to a bit error rate of `10^-12`.
