A token card is a hardware or software component used for authentication by the owner to access computer systems, networks, or databases.

Token cards are also called security tokens and are used in multifactor authentication( MFA). They can be equipped with a random number generator and generate new passwords at regular intervals, which are used in conjunction with authentication as one-time passwords. This is the case with the One Time Password( OTP).
