tiny operating system (TinyOS)
TinyOS is a tiny operating system for low- power wireless components such as those used in Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN), PersonalArea Networks( PAN), smart clothing, smart meters or in smart dust.
The Tiny operating system is open source software that can be licensed under the BSD, Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) licenses. A worldwide user group from academia and industry develops and supports the Tiny operating system and related tools.
TinyOS can be used specifically in microcontroller-driven devices with sensing or networking capabilities with limited resources. That is, with components that have little memory capacity and low power requirements. It cannot be used for processor intensive functions.
