time slot access with acknowledge insertion (CarRing) (TA2I)

Time Slot Access with Acknowledge Insertion (TA2I) is an access method for the CarRing. It is a combination of the TDMA method and register insertion( RI).

In this TDMA variant, the time slots are not generated via a global clock as is usually the case, but are implemented by empty, circling transport frames. Each node in the CarRing has its own transport frame. The Insertion register is used to transmit short acknowledgements to increase the effective use of the ring bandwidth. To do this, a node can temporarily extend the ring by varying the length of one of its ring buffers. The acknowledgements are removed from the ring after passing through it.

There are still two variants of the TA2I access method, the ETA2I, an extension of TA2I, and OTA2I, a method where a node can release its transport frame to other nodes.
