radio technical commission for maritime service (DGPS) (RTCM)

Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services (RTCM) is an organization that develops and publishes standards for maritime communications.

The RTCM service is concerned, among other things, with the precise location of persons and ships in distress at sea. For this application, the Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services has developed standards to increase the positioning accuracy of the Global Navigation Satellite System( GNSS).

In the RTCM standard, correction signals from the Differential Global Positioning System( DGPS) derived from time intervals, data segment sizes and other parameters are transmitted in special file formats and used for the higher position resolution.
