thulium doped fiber amplifier (OA) (TDFA)

A TDFA amplifier (Thulium Doped Fiber Amplifier) is an optical amplifier for amplifying light signals.

A Thulium Doped Fiber Amplifier is a pumped fiber amplifier whose pump laser operates at wavelengths of 1,047 nm or 1,400 nm and amplifies wavelengths in the S-band between 1,460 nm and 1,530. The combination of an erbium doped fiber amplifier( EDFA) and thulium doped fiber amplifier (TDFA) covers a wider bandwidth. Like erbium, thulium belongs to the rare earth elements.

In addition to the wavelengths mentioned, there are also TDFA amplifiers for wavelengths for the wavelength range of the first optical window from 800 nm to 850 nm and for the optical window of monomode fibers at wavelengths of 1,650 nm in the U-band.
