third party quality monitoring (VoIP) (TPQM)

Third Party Quality Monitoring (TPQM) is a method for evaluating Internet telephony( VoIP).

TPQM is used to isolate qualitative errors in the transmission of IP-encodedvoice. Quality monitoring provides precise information about the influences on the voice packets. This includes jitter, delay and packet loss at every point of the IP network.

With TPQM, defined data packets are transmitted between VoIP terminals using the RTCP protocol, which is the so-called Real Time Control Protocol packets. Thanks to this technique, the sender can optimize the sending of VoIP packets.
