thermal stress

When laying data cables, it is essential to observe the possible temperature stresses. These are different from storage and operation and are specified separately by the manufacturers.

Excessively high temperatures can impair the properties of the insulation material and, in the worst case, lead to crushing of the core insulation and damage to the sheath in the event of additional mechanical stress.

Temperatures that are too low cause, due to the reduced stretching capacity of the materials, e.g. bursting of the sheath when bending with extremely small radii.

The procedure for determining the temperature load is described in EN 187 000 method 601.
