Tele-commerce is the counterpart to e-commerce. In the classic solution approach for teleshopping and telebanking, interaction, i.e., the order or transaction, takes place via specially established return channels, such as the telephone, modem, fax or e-mail.

DigitalVideoBroadcasting( DVB), on the other hand, offers back channels for interaction in all transmission modes - terrestrial, satellite, broadband cable network. The customer can carry out his business transactions with the remote control of the television set. The data is sent to the provider via the return channel.

Data encryption is performed via the set-top box.
