switching network
A dial-up network is a communications network in which a dial-up connection is established between two or more communications partners.
The term dial-up network says nothing about the switching technology and the dialing equipment, but only that the connection between the communication partners is established by dialing a telephone number. Furthermore, the term dial-up network says nothing about the type of transmission, which can be analog or digital.
In a dial-up connection, a connection between the communication partners is established by dialing a telephone number. The connection is established via one of the public fixed networks, for example the telephone network, or via a mobile network by dialing a subscriber.
