switched combining (space diversity) (SC)

Switched Combining(SC), also referred to as Scanning Combining, is one of several methods for spatial diversity of multi- antenna systems, to increase the receive level. Another method is Selection Combining (SC).

In switched combining, the receiving station continuously measures the RF levels of the different antenna signals and, as soon as the field strength of the currently received RF signal falls below a predetermined threshold, switches to a stronger antenna signal.
