Swarm intelligence is created by a network of self-organized intelligent micro-components, such as Smart Dust
. Swarm intelligence, which is familiar from nature, has been transferred to robotics and works with tiny decentralized components that form a network. The basic components of swarm intelligence, the agents, consist of tiny intelligent units that are equipped with nanosensors and collect information from the environment. They communicate with the other agents or in broadcast with the swarm about their position and their targets. The communication
can be done via radio or light signals. Swarm intelligence can be used with a drone swarm for search and rescue missions. The drone swarm then works together as a unit and can only solve sensitive tasks by doing so.
