Suspend-to-RAM (STR) mode is a power management mode for personal computers
. In this operating mode, power-consuming hardware components such as the hard disks, the processor and the display are switched to an economy mode after a preset time during which no functional inputs have been made. This state of freezing is a standby mode. Since the main memory is buffered in this operating mode, only a small amount of residual energy is required for the refresh of the main memory and the control functions of the hardware components.
