FO cable with support element

The support element protects the cable against mechanical stresses, against tensile loads or upsetting loads. It is dielectric and consists of a heavy-duty epoxy fiberglass rod. In the case of the chamber cable, the support element has helically arranged grooves into which the optical fib ers are inserted and are thus protected against mechanical stresses.
