subnetwork dependent convergence protocol (OSI, GPRS) (SNDCP)

Subnetwork Dependent Convergence Protocol (SNDCP) is an OSI protocol for interconnecting different subnets. It is a subnetwork independent convergence protocol that workswith encapsulation of an IP protocol unit ArticleID="45" ArticleURL="Protocol- data-unit-protocol-data-unit- PDU" ArticleTitle="Protocol-data-unit">protocol-data-unit.

The SNDCP protocol is used in General Packet Radio Service( GPRS), among other applications. Since the GPRS terminal sits on top of the network layer, the IP or X.25 packets are mapped by the Subnetwork Dependent Convergence Protocol (SNDCP) to the Link Layer Control layer. SNDCP can split datagrams or data packets coming from the network layer into individual segments, multiplex several datagrams of the network layer and transmit them over a single virtual connection.
