agile release train (ART)

In the Scaled Agile Framework( SAFe) workflow model, an Agile Release Train (ART) is a long-term project workgroup that works with other stakeholders to incrementally develop, deliver, deploy, and potentially operate one or more solutions in a value stream.

As teams, Agile Release Trains focus their attention on a common business and technology idea. Each team typically consists of 50 to 125 people who plan, develop, and implement together. Agile Release Trains (ART) are organized around a company's significant value streams and are designed to realize value. To do this, they build solutions that deliver value to the end user.

ART trains deliver a continuous value stream, they are cross-functional and consist of software, hardware and firmware with which the solutions are defined, tested, deployed and released. The functional chain of such a value stream consists of the Continuous Exploration( CE), Continuous Integration( CI), Continuous Deployment( CD) and Release on Demand processes.
