stop and wait ARQ

Stop-and-Wait ARQ is a variant of the Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) transmission backup.

With Stop-and-Wait ARQ, an acknowledgement is issued for each individual data block before the next data block can be transmitted. The method has lower data throughput than Continuous ARQ, for example, but is less prone to errors. Examples of Stop and Wait ARQ are Medium Speed Version( MSV) and the Bisynchronous Procedure( BSC).
