status indication busy (GSM) (SIB)

Status Indication Busy (SIB) is an overload indication that is displayed with the status field( SF) of the Link Status Signal Unit( LSSU). It is one of six status indications that can be displayed with the status field.

If an overload or congestion occurs in the link layer, the SIB indicator is transmitted to the other end of the central signaling channel. As soon as a SIB message occurs, the Message Signal Unit( MSU) is interrupted by a Signalling Point( SP). If the congestion lasts longer than 3 s to 6 s, a process is activated to clear the link error.
