stateless address autoconfiguration (IPv6) (SLAAC)

Stateless Address Autoconfiguration (SLAAC) is a stateless autoconfiguration of IPv6 addresses.

In stateless autoconfiguration, the IPv6 address is not assigned centrally, but the hosts generate their own IPv6 addresses. These can be global, local, or temporary IPv6 addresses. With the global address, the host can establish a connection via the Internet, and with the local address, connections within the local network are possible.
