link state database (OSPF) (LSDB)

The network topological information is stored and constantly updated in the Link State Database (LSDB). The procedure is used in the Intermediate System to Intermediate System Protocol( IS-IS) or in Open Shortest Path First( OSPF V2), among others, and is described in RFC 1247. In link-state protocols, each router has a map of the network stored in the Link State Database. Using the LSDB database, the router calculates its transmission paths through the network using the SPF method.

The LSDB database receives its current topology information from the Complete Sequence Number PDU (LSNP), which contains all Link State Packets( LSP).
