start of program diameter (CD) (SPD)

Start of Program Diameter(SPD) is a characteristic value of compact discs(CD) and DVDs. It is the CD inner radius at which data recording begins. This inner radius is between 24.8 mm and 25.04 mm and marks the start of the first track. Defining the inner radius reduces the seek time that the drive would need if the track position were not exactly defined.
