start of frame sequence (MAC) (SFS)

Start of Frame Sequence (SFS) refers to the two data fields at the beginning of the FDDI token: The Preamble( PA), which is used to synchronize the token, and the Starting Delimiter( SD), which marks the beginning of the block. This applies equally to Ethernet frames as well as to Token Ring and FDDI tokens.
