Software Infrastructure as a Service (SIaaS) is a cloud service through which software development components are delivered and is closely related to Software-as-a-Service( SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service( PaaS).
The software infrastructure provided targets specific application software platforms, supports IT management, and provides base software for relational database management( RDBMS), enterprise application integration ( EAI), and extract/transform/load ( ETL) processes.
SIaaS services are offered in a variety of embodiments by cloud enablers such as VMWare, Citrix Systems and 3Tera. Database services are offered by Amazon SimpleDB and Microsoft SQLAzure, and distribution services by Akami Technologies, Level3 Communications and Limelight Networks.
