sneakernet
A sneakernet, in the jargon, is a sneaker network in which the data is not transferred via physically connected computers, but where the data transfer is still physical.
In a sneakernet, the electronic information is stored on a storage unit - which can be a USB flash drive, magnetic tape, floppy or compact disc( CD) - that is carried from one personal computer to another, physically. With sneakernets, the criteria that are important in local area networks, such as latency or ping time, cannot be applied.
