smart client
In terms of the division of tasks, client- server concepts are divided into thin clients, fat clients and smart clients, which are sometimes also referred to as rich clients.
Smart clients have the highest possible performance. They provide the ability to scale applications and work off certain application software functions while the server performs the complex application work.
Parts of the application software are thus located on the smart client as well as on the server. This concept is used for dedicated applications in finance or also for authentication.
