small scale integration (IC) (SSI)
The integration density of circuits in an integrated circuit is called scale integration.
Depending on the level of density, this acronym is preceded by one or two other identifiers such as Small Scale Integration(SSI), Large Scale Integration( LSI), Very Large Scale Integration( VLSI) or Ultra Large Scale Integration( ULSI) and others.
Small Scale Integration (SSI) characterizes the lowest integration density with less than 100 transistors per chip. Digital gate circuits have been implemented in SSI technology. The next highest integration density is Medium Scale Integration( MSI).
