slot time

The slot time is a parameter of Ethernet and determines the size of the collision domain.

The slot time corresponds to twice the signal propagation speed between the two network stations furthest apart and the minimum packet length of 64 bytes or 512 bits.

At a clock rate of 10 Mbit/s, or a clock time of 100 ns, the slot time is 51.2 µs. At 100 Mbit/s, the clock time is 10 ns, so the slot time is 5.12 µs for the same packet length. The greater the slot time, the lower the Ethernet performance.
