single-cell network

A single-cell network is a cellular network that consists of only a single radio cell.

A single-cell network is thus the smallest possible unit of cellular networks. Such networks can be operated autonomously or as a LAN segment of a wired local area network. It is conceivable to set up several autonomous radio cells, single-cell networks, next to each other, and this may even make sense for security reasons. The individual radio cells of such a network can be interconnected by means of roaming and bridging functions to form a larger, fully integrated wireless local area network.
