single-cell network

A single-cell network is a cellular network that consists of only a single radio cell

. A single-cell network thus represents the smallest possible unit of cellular networks. Such networks can operate autonomously or as a LAN segment of a wired local area network. The construction of several autonomous radio cells, single-cell networks, next to each other is conceivable and, under certain circumstances, even sensible for security reasons. The individual radio cells of such a network can be interconnected by means of roaming and bridging functions to form a larger, fully integrated wireless local area network.
