single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA)

The Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) access method is used in the uplink of Long Term Evolution (LTE). The method combines a low crest factor of a single carrier system with the flexible frequency allocation and long symbol times of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM). This technique is used in combination with multi-digit quadrature amplitude modulation (64QAM).
