single attachment station (FDDI) (SAS)

The single attachment station( SAS) has a connection to the primary ring with MAC component in the FDDI.

The SAS stations have a slaveport and must therefore be connected to a master port of a concentrator. SAS stations are suitable for end devices such as workstations and personal computers(PCs) and can be bridged via the station management of the responsible concentrator and thus removed from the ring.
