For projection techniques, there are different projection surfaces such as the pearl screen, the diffuse screen and the metal or silver screen.

Projection surfaces have different reflection properties and are classified into screen types. The silver screen corresponds to screen type "S". It reflects incident light like a mirror: the angle of reflection corresponds to the angle of reflection of the incident light.

Gain factor of a screen as a function of the viewing angle

The silver screen consists of a fabric to which a metal or silver layer is applied. This layer works like a mirror layer and reflects the incident light in a mirrored way. The projection can be done from a certain angle, where the projector is above or below the vertical screen axis. The gain factor shows a stronger expression towards the projection axis, but drops sharply in the peripheral area.
