silicon controlled switch (SCS)
The Silicon Controlled Switch (SCS) is a four- layer device, comparable to a thyristor or the GTO thyristor.
In contrast, the SCS thyristor has two controllable gate terminals, the anode gate and the cathode gate, and like the conventional thyristors, a cathode and an anode. The two gates can be used to turn the SCS thyristor on and off.
If there is a positive voltage between the cathode gate and the cathode, the SCS thyristor is switched on; it is switched off if the anode and cathode are connected to the same potential.
