short data service (Tetra) (SDS)

Short Data Service(SDS) is the short message service used in Tetra. The SDS service, which is comparable to the Short Message Service( SMS), can be used to transmit messages with a length between 16 bits and 2,047 bits.

The transmitted messages can be addressed to a single mobile device or to multiple mobile devices. User data is transmitted on the organization channel or the traffic channel. Both short text messages as e-mail or pre-formulated templates can be sent.
