service switching function (IN) (SSF)

The Service Switching Function (SSF) is a central functional unit in CAMEL (Customized Applications for Mobile Enhanced Logic).

In the SSF functional unit, providers have access to special functions that go beyond the general functions of intelligent networks or mobile networks. The second key functional unit of CAMEL is the Service Control Function( SCF), which supports the SSF functions during connection setup and during connection time. Both functional units communicate with each other via the CAMEL Applications Part( CAP).
